Atomic Orbitals and Quantum Numbers |
||||||||||||||||
Atomic orbitals are regions around an atom with high electron density. They are associated with a specific energy state of an electron in an atom. Orbitals are defined by quantum numbers and have a characteristic shape. Each electronic orbital corresponds to a wavefunction derived from the mathematical description of the wavelike properties of electrons.
