Molecular Shape and Structure |

Isomers may have quite different reactivities. The operation of enzymes and other catalysts often involves their ability to 'recognise' the shape of substrate molecules. This module describes the basic geometric structures from which most molecules are built and techniques you can use to predict molecular shape in particular cases.
The module includes some large animation files; their delivery may take a several minutes over a telephone modem line. If you are downloading via a home phone line, use the modem link button to obtain a shorter version with the animation disabled . |
