Thermal Energy, Collisions and Reactions
Of the trillions of collisions occuring between potential reactant molecules in a sample every second, for most reactions only a few are successful. Only those with an appropriate excess of thermal energy are capable of forming products.

This module describes the different forms of thermal energy that molecules may possess and the model chemists have developed to describe the energy changes which are necessary for a chemical reaction to occur and to account for the rates at which those reaction occur.
