The units below are grouped in their normal combinations. They are designed to fit particular degree course requirements and the background knowledge of students. Each unit has a dedicated area on this website with resources and links tailored to your course.
For students whose chemistry background is weak or non-existent. Students with an HSC Chemistry mark of 50 or less, or no previous study in Chemistry, should enrol in these units. There is no prerequisite for CHEM1011, but students without HSC Chemistry are strongly advised to attend the Bridging Course.
The Junior Chemistry units in which the majority of students enrol. CHEM1111 assumes a satisfactory knowledge of the HSC Chemistry course. If you are unsure of your future and wish to retain as many options as possible, CHEM1111 and CHEM1112 (or the Advanced stream below) are the usual choice. A pass in CHEM1112 is required for entry into Intermediate Chemistry.
These units are for Pharmacy students and lead to second year Pharmacy. Students who have not undertaken HSC Chemistry are strongly advised to attend the Bridging Course.
For students with a very good background in Chemistry. The minimum requirement for CHEM1911 is an ATAR of 95.0 and an HSC Chemistry mark over 80. Students in this category are expected to take CHEM1911 & CHEM1912 rather than CHEM1111 & CHEM1112.
For exceptional Chemistry students. The minimum entry requirement for CHEM1991 is an ATAR of 99.0 and an HSC Chemistry mark over 90. Entry to CHEM1992 is restricted to students who obtain a distinction grade in CHEM1991.
